रंगीन तितलियाँ नहीं उड़ती
और न ही अब छोटे बच्चे

फूलों से सुगंध भी
अब खोने लगी है
बचपन अपने पीठ पर

If you have ever wondered why your grandmother checked the calendar before fixing a wedding date, the answer lies in the Panchang. The word comes from pancha (five) and anga (limb) — so it literally means “five limbs.” It is the traditional Hindu astronomical almanac, and people across India and the diaspora have relied on it for thousands of years to pick the right time for important events.

उछल कूद करतीं हृदय में
कभी निलय से आलिंदो में

तू वहां मैं यहाँ।

बरसों बीत गये बिछड़े गोद से तेरी
फिर भी लगता है तू हरदम है पास मेरी
क्या इसी को कहते हैं जन्म-जन्म का नाता
नेह का मंत्र लिख श्वाँस के दीप पर,
वर्तिका सम हृदय को पुरोहित करें ।
काव्य की सर्जना का दिवाकर उगा,
वेदना के तिमिर को तिरोहित करें ।।
