भारतीय उच्चायोग, लंदन के द्वारा नवनाथ सेंटर के सहयोग से आयोजित ‘इंडिया डे’ समारोह में भारत की समृद्ध सांस्कृतिक विरासत, विविधता और एकता की शानदार झलक देखने को मिली। इस भव्य आयोजन में 20,000 से अधिक लोगों ने भाग लिया और भारतीय संस्कृति, कला, परंपराओं तथा विभिन्न राज्यों के स्वादिष्ट व्यंजनों का आनंद लिया। कार्यक्रम मे भारत के विभिन्न राज्यों ने अपने-अपने स्टॉल के माध्यम से अपने प्रदेश की संस्कृति, परंपरा, कला, खान-पान और विशिष्ट पहचान को प्रस्तुत किया। एक ही परिसर में कश्मीर से कन्याकुमारी और गुजरात से पूर्वोत्तर भारत तक की सांस्कृतिक विविधता ने वास्तव में ‘एक भारत, श्रेष्ठ भारत’ की भावना को साकार किया।
कार्यक्रम की शुरुआत भारत के उच्चायुक्त महामहिम श्री पेरियासामी कुमारन द्वारा भारतीय तिरंगा फहराने के साथ हुई। इसके बाद हजारों भारतीयों ने एक स्वर में राष्ट्रगान गाया, जिसने पूरे वातावरण को देशभक्ति और गर्व की भावना से भर दिया।
It’s quite strange to quote strange experiences in this strange place!
To elucidate further, Last Saturday we were hopping in some markets in London trying to shop for our daughter. After raiding few shops we ended up in this store, exhausted and tired. I preferred to sit on a tuffet and pleaded my husband to look for the things he had to buy. As soon as I sat, an elderly woman came with her clan and sat beside me. She looked equally tired like me. We briefly exchanged glances, I unwaveringly smiled and she responded . She seemed interested in looking at me and my daughter. So, I uttered few words about how my daughter keeps me busy. She said she was there for her grand daughter who was going to turn twelve next month on 10th and since it’s their school summer break, she would be taking her to her homeland, Paris. All her relatives from her husband’s side were there in France and they were planning for a nice family reunion along with her grand daughter’s birthday treat!
What a sheer coincidence! I told her that my daughter would turn four on the same day -same month! She looked intently at Siya who was busy twirling, dancing, glancing at the mirrors and singing! Siya turned and sneaked a look at the girl who was dressed like a boy. Finding bit odd for her young mind, she said, ” Mama! Why is she not wearing a Frock ?”
Before I could say anything, the lovely lady said,” I was telling my grand daughter that she shares the same birth day and month and look she is wearing a frock, so why can’t you wear one?”
The girl shyly smiled and went to see her mother who was busy trying some clothes. While the old lady started talking to me. She said she likes the people who really care for their children and look for their needs. As per her opinion, family is very important and she takes her family from London to meet her relatives in Paris every year.
Meanwhile to our dismay, Siya and that girl picked up the same dress unknowingly, I retorted, “They have struck some chords!” I don’t know what clicked in that girl’s mind, she bought that frock and the old lady happily said, “She would be wearing one for the first time. All these eleven years she had never worn a frock!” Well!! what could have I said!! It was a sheer zodiac effect or just an impression!! That one hour in that GAP showroom was a delight. I had almost forgotten the wide chasm of language, culture and background!!!

The smell of incense is still coming from the puja room. Fresh parathas are ready on the table as Gopalu sat down for breakfast. His dad sat down mid-conversation, phone still in hand, finishing off a call with family back in India — something he did most mornings, keeping one foot in India and one in their life here in England.

संगम का मूल विश्वास है कि भारतीय संस्कृति केवल परंपराओं का संग्रह नहीं, बल्कि जीवन मूल्यों, सामाजिक समरसता और सांस्कृतिक गौरव की अमूल्य धरोहर है। इसी विचार को आगे बढ़ाते हुए संस्था वर्ष भर ऐसे कार्यक्रम आयोजित करती है जो भारतीय समुदाय को अपनी जड़ों से जोड़ने के साथ-साथ ब्रिारतीय सामाजिक एवं सांस्कृतिक संगठनों में अपनी विशिष्ट पहचान बना चुका है। विविधता में एकता के भारतीय आदर्श को आत्मसात करते हुए संगम यू.के. भारत के विभिन्न राज्यों, भाषाओं और परंपराओं से जुड़े लोगों को एक परिवार के रूप में टिश समाज के साथ सांस्कृतिक संवाद को भी सुदृढ़ बनाते हैं। दिवाली, होली, स्वतंत्रता दिवस, गणतंत्र दिवस तथा अन्य सामाजिक एवं सांस्कृतिक आयोजनों के माध्यम से संगम भारतीय संस्कृति की समृद्ध विरासत को नई पीढ़ी तक पहुँचाने का कार्य कर रहा है।
हिंदी भाषा के प्रचार-प्रसार के क्षेत्र में संगम यू.के. ने उल्लेखनीय योगदान दिया है। संस्था नियमित रूप से अंतरराष्ट्रीय कवि सम्मेलन, हिंदी साहित्यिक गोष्ठियाँ, लोक-संगीत कार्यक्रम तथा साहित्यिक संवाद आयोजित करती रही है। इन आयोजनों ने न केवल ब्रिटेन में हिंदी भाषा के प्रति नई रुचि उत्पन्न की है, बल्कि साहित्यकारों, कवियों और हिंदी प्रेमियों को एक साझा मंच भी प्रदान किया है। हिंदी के क्षेत्र में उत्कृष्ट योगदान के लिए संगम यू.के. को प्रतिष्ठित “द फ्रेडरिक पिंकॉट यू.के. अवार्ड – 2023” से सम्मानित किया जाना संस्था की इस प्रतिबद्धता का प्रमाण है। संगम की सबसे महत्वपूर्ण पहलों में से एक “हिंदी युवा संगम” है, जिसका आयोजन वर्ष 2023 से भारत के उच्चायोग (High Commission of India) के सहयोग से प्रत्येक वर्ष किया जा रहा है। यह कार्यक्रम आज संगम की पहचान बन चुका है। हर वर्ष यूनाइटेड किंगडम के विभिन्न क्षेत्रों, विद्यालयों, सांस्कृतिक संस्थाओं और समुदायों से बड़ी संख्या में बालक एवं बालिकाएँ इसमें भाग लेकर कविता-पाठ, साहित्यिक अभिव्यक्ति और हिंदी भाषा के प्रति अपने प्रेम का परिचय देते हैं। प्रतिभागियों की निरंतर बढ़ती संख्या ने इसे ब्रिटेन में बच्चों और युवाओं के लिए आयोजित होने वाले सबसे प्रतिष्ठित हिंदी साहित्यिक आयोजनों में स्थापित कर दिया है। यह मंच नई पीढ़ी को अपनी भारतीय सांस्कृतिक विरासत से जोड़ने के साथ-साथ उनमें आत्मविश्वास, रचनात्मकता और नेतृत्व क्षमता का भी विकास करता है। संगम यू.के. भारतीय उच्चायोग, लंदन के साथ निरंतर सहयोग करते हुए अनेक राष्ट्रीय एवं सांस्कृतिक कार्यक्रमों में सक्रिय सहभागिता निभाता है। इसके अतिरिक्त संस्था स्थानीय सांसदों, विभिन्न सामाजिक संगठनों, सांस्कृतिक संस्थाओं और सामुदायिक समूहों के साथ मिलकर ऐसे कार्यक्रम आयोजित करती है जो भारतीय समुदाय के बीच सहयोग, सद्भाव और सामाजिक उत्तरदायित्व की भावना को सुदृढ़ बनाते हैं। यही कारण है कि संगम आज यूके के भारतीय प्रवासी समाज में एक विश्वसनीय और सम्मानित संगठन के रूप में स्थापित है।
सांस्कृतिक गतिविधियों के साथ-साथ संगम समाज की समकालीन आवश्यकताओं को भी समान महत्व देता है। संस्था मानसिक स्वास्थ्य जागरूकता, पर्यावरण संरक्षण, सामाजिक सहयोग, सामुदायिक सेवा तथा ज्ञान-विज्ञान से जुड़े विभिन्न कार्यक्रमों के माध्यम से समाज में सकारात्मक परिवर्तन लाने का सतत प्रयास करती है। इन पहलों के माध्यम से संगम यह संदेश देता है कि एक सशक्त समाज केवल सांस्कृतिक आयोजनों से नहीं, बल्कि सामाजिक संवेदनशीलता, जागरूकता और सामूहिक उत्तरदायित्व से भी निर्मित होता है। आज संगम यू.के. केवल एक संगठन नहीं, बल्कि एक ऐसा परिवार है जो भारतीयता के मूल्यों को जीवंत रखते हुए नई पीढ़ी को अपनी भाषा, संस्कृति और विरासत से जोड़ने का कार्य कर रहा है। लगभग 600 परिवारों और 1500 से अधिक सदस्यों का यह विस्तृत परिवार निरंतर विस्तार की ओर अग्रसर है तथा समाज सेवा, सांस्कृतिक संरक्षण और हिंदी के वैश्विक प्रचार के नए आयाम स्थापित कर रहा है। भविष्य की ओर बढ़ते हुए संगम यू.के. का संकल्प स्पष्ट है—भारतीय संस्कृति, हिंदी भाषा और सामाजिक समरसता को नई पीढ़ियों तक पहुँचाना, भारत और यूनाइटेड किंगडम के बीच सांस्कृतिक संबंधों को और अधिक मजबूत बनाना तथा भारतीय प्रवासी समाज के लिए प्रेरणा, सहभागिता और सेवा का एक सशक्त मंच बने रहना। यही सतत प्रयास संगम को केवल एक संस्था नहीं, बल्कि यूके में भारतीय अस्मिता, सांस्कृतिक गौरव और सामुदायिक एकता का जीवंत प्रतीक बनाता है।
India Mix Disability T20 Squad Receives a Heartfelt Community Reception in Leicester
On the evening of 4 August 2026, the Maher Centre, Leicester, became more than just a venue—it became a place where courage was honoured, friendships were strengthened, and the true spirit of inclusion came alive. A special reception was organised to welcome and celebrate the India Mix Disability T20 Squad ahead of their eagerly awaited series against England.
Like the first flower in a garden that brings its own beauty and freshness, this first edition of Namastey Bharat and the opportunity to share my thoughts with you will always remain a source of inspiration and encouragement for me. It will keep me connected with my passion, dedication, and literature.
