London, 6 September 2026: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarsanghchalak Dr Mohan Bhagwat visited the United Kingdom from 2 to 7 September 2026. The visit formed the final stage of his three-country tour covering the United States, Canada and Britain, organised as part of the RSS centenary-year international outreach programme. He repeatedly mentioned सेवा परमो धर्मः’ (‘Seva Parmo Dharma’)
During his stay in London, Dr Bhagwat met faith leaders, academics, researchers, community representatives and other public figures. His interfaith engagements included visits to the Shree Swaminarayan Temple in Willesden and the Khalsa Jatha British Isles Gurdwara. More than 100 British Hindu and community organisations welcomed the visit, which focused on social harmony, community service and the principle of वसुधैव कुटुम्ब Vasudhaiv Kutumb means “the world is one family.”
The event was attended by hundreds of Britain based community organisations, their community leaders. It aas also attended by High Commissioner of India to Britain Mr. Periasamy Kumaran.
The event mainly around “Celebration of Oneness”, organised in London by HSS Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh UK. Addressing community leaders, students and volunteers, Dr Bhagwat spoke about cultural identity, Hindutva, selfless service and the importance of unity in diversity.
Answering to a Q&A session – he said that society did not need uniformity to achieve unity, as different beliefs and traditions could coexist through mutual respect. Describing Hindutva as a philosophy of oneness and belonging, he encouraged communities to live, work and progress together while respecting their differences.
In a significant message for the British Indian diaspora, Dr Bhagwat said British Hindus should remain loyal to Britain. He further added: their karma bhoomi, or land of duty while drawing cultural values from their janma bhoomi, or ancestral homeland. And so by a large a Hindu won’t feel any conflict.
Dr Bhagwat also expressed confidence in the younger generation, describing young people as honest, courageous and ready to move beyond minor differences. He advised elders to give them knowledge and meaningful goals while allowing them to discover their own methods.
Although the visit attracted some political criticism and discussion in the British Parliament, it received substantial support from Hindu and community organisations. Overall, Dr Bhagwat’s UK visit delivered a message of unity, cultural confidence, responsible citizenship and selfless service to wider society.
The Indian diaspora gathered with great enthusiasm and felt deeply inspired by Dr Mohan Bhagwat Ji’s speech, his vision for Bharat and his guidance rooted in the principles of Hindutva.
