On the evening of 4 August 2026, the Maher Centre, Leicester, became more than just a venue—it became a place where courage was honoured, friendships were strengthened, and the true spirit of inclusion came alive. A special reception was organised to welcome and celebrate the India Mix Disability T20 Squad ahead of their eagerly awaited series against England.

The gathering reflected the values that lie at the heart of both sport and community: resilience, unity, equality, and hope. It was an occasion where every handshake, every conversation, and every round of applause acknowledged not only sporting excellence but also the determination of individuals who continue to inspire through their perseverance.
The reception was organised under the leadership of Dada Mahendrasinh Jadeja, Chairman of the Commonwealth Prosperity Initiative (CPI), and jointly coordinated with Adv. Sushil W. Gaikwad. Their vision, supported wholeheartedly by Adv Uma Shanker and Rahul Sharma, brought together members of the community in a warm and memorable celebration of talent and the human spirit.
The evening was beautifully documented by Staardom Media, the Official Media Partner, whose dedicated coverage ensured that the inspiring stories of the players and the significance of the occasion reached audiences far beyond the venue.
Adding to the celebratory atmosphere, Kamal Prabhakar delivered a captivating performance that filled the hall with warmth and joy, reminding everyone that art and sport together have the unique ability to unite hearts.
The organisers expressed their heartfelt appreciation to the Maher Centre for its exceptional hospitality, excellent venue arrangements, and delicious refreshments. Their generosity and attention to detail created a welcoming environment and played a significant role in the success of the reception.
Although President Sanjay Karavadra was unable to attend due to prior commitments, he remained closely involved in overseeing the arrangements throughout. Special recognition was also given to Hitesh Godhania, whose dedication, meticulous planning, and flawless execution ensured that every aspect of the event ran smoothly.

Despite the short notice, the reception was attended by many distinguished guests and community supporters, including CL Rashmi Patel, Cllr Geeta Mahesh Karavadra, Cllr Devyani Patel, Udaybhai Dholakia, and numerous other well-wishers. Their presence reflected the community’s unwavering support for disability cricket and the ideals of inclusion and equal opportunity.
As the India Mix Disability T20 Squad prepares to take on England, they carry with them not only the hopes of cricket enthusiasts but also the admiration of countless people inspired by their courage, resilience, and determination. Their journey reminds us that true victory is measured not only by runs scored or matches won, but by the barriers overcome, the lives touched, and the hope they inspire.
The reception in Leicester was more than an evening of celebration—it was a tribute to the limitless potential of the human spirit. It reaffirmed that when communities come together with a shared purpose, they create moments that inspire generations.
